- Size for your room. A rough rule: sit about 1 to 1.5 times the screen size away for 4K. Most people who upgrade say they wish they had gone bigger.
- Panel type. Basic LED is the most affordable. QLED and mini-LED get brighter, which helps in sunny rooms. OLED has the best contrast for dark-room movie nights.
- Gaming features. For PS5 or Xbox, look for HDMI 2.1, 120Hz and VRR. Many budget TVs are 60Hz only.
- Sound. Thin TVs have small speakers. Budget for a soundbar if dialogue is hard to hear (see our soundbar guide).
