- Pick the right size. About 2 to 4 quarts is plenty for one or two people. A family of four is happier with 5 to 6 quarts or more, so you are not cooking in batches.
- Basket, dual basket or oven style. A single basket is the simplest. Dual-basket models cook two foods at once and finish them together. Oven-style models have racks and a window, and some also toast and rotisserie.
- Easy cleaning matters. Look for a nonstick basket and a crisper plate that can go in the dishwasher. You will use it more if cleanup takes a minute.
- Check the counter space. Air fryers are bulkier than they look in photos. Measure where it will live, including room behind it for the hot air vent.
